Involvement
Since elected in November 2018, Nick has
- Increased communications with residents via his regular newsletters on Facebook, NextDoor and other platforms.
- Improved the city’s relationship with Plantation public schools, helping revive Plantation’s Education Advisory Board and expand its volunteer base.
- Created Plantation Palooza, a virtual fund-raising concert featuring Plantation musicians to benefit Feeding South Florida.
- Co-chaired the 2020 Plantation Census Committee.
- Served on both the Firefighters’ and the General Employees’ Pension Boards.
- Graduated from such continuing education opportunities as the Broward Water and Climate Academy and the Florida Institute for Elected Municipal Officials (League of Cities).
- Served as 2020 City Council President.
- Been re-elected in November 2020, becoming the first Plantation candidate to ever surpass the 25,000-vote mark.
- Graduated from Plantation Citizens’ Police Academy in 2018.
Community Activities
- Member of Plantation Chamber of Commerce.
- Member of Plantation Historical Society, Kiwanis and Friends of the Helen B. Hoffman Library.
- City of Plantation Christmas Eve Santa Claus volunteer.
- Former PAL basketball and soccer coach.
- Plantation Relay for Live volunteer.
- Freedoms Foundation lifetime member and Take Stock in Children board member.
- Assistant boys’ basketball coach at American Heritage, St. Thomas Aquinas and Cardinal Gibbons over the past 30 years.
